If you're going to be spending long periods of time outside in sub zero temperatures it's important to protect your hands.crayfish gloves These crayfish gloves from DDsafety are great for that, they're warm enough to be worn on their own in 0degC conditions and you can pair them with anything from a thin silk liner to a heavy inner to get maximum warmth. They have a 2+2 finger design which leaves plenty of space to fit another glove inside and the palms and fingertips are patterned with silicon dots for grip.
The outer material is Ripstop and is very tough, they have a lot of synthetic insulation that keeps you nice and warm and there's even a little bit of stretch over the knuckles to help with dexterity and comfort.crayfish gloves The cuff is an elasticated knit safety cuff that has a rubber latex finish on the thumb and index finger, this helps to ensure it stays in place. It's a snug fit, which is fine but if you're wearing these with a tight roadie style jacket that has sleeves that go over the gloves then it can stick to your armpits causing irritation.
They're not touchscreen compatible but you can still use your fingers to operate a brake lever or shifter, it just takes a little longer than with gloves that have touchscreen-compatible fingertips.crayfish gloves They're also not waterproof but they do have good breathability, letting your hands dry out quite quickly if you sweat, which is good if you spend a lot of time riding in the rain.
A bit more expensive than some of the other gloves on this list but they're an impressively warm set of gloves that you could wear on their own in sub zero conditions. The only thing I would add is that you'll find the seams don't all have tape on them, this would have been a perfect score if they had but it doesn't seem to impact on the overall performance.
These are really impressively warm gloves that will keep your fingers toasty in subzero conditions, they're a bit heavier than other gloves on this list but they offer enough dexterity to be used on any bike. I've had them on my hands in -10degC and I was toasty without getting any cold spots. The only downside is that they aren't waterproof but I wouldn't expect them to be since they are designed as overgloves and you'll probably want a proper waterproof outer. They wash well and are comfortable to wear, with the only downside being that you can't do up your Velcro wrist seal while they're on - this will require a glove butler or to take them off while in your jacket to do up the cuff if needed. This is a minor inconvenience but it's worth considering if you're looking for the ultimate in winter gloves.
