Knowledge Article: Aluminized Radiant‑Heat Resistant Safety Gloves

Release time:

Sep 01,2026

Product Overview

Aluminized high‑temperature gloves are a special category of PPE engineered for radiant heat protection. Unlike regular flame‑retardant, nitrile, PVC or ESD dry‑box gloves, they rely on a reflective aluminium surface to bounce thermal radiation away rather than only slowing heat conduction. They are designed for short‑term exposure to extreme radiant heat in heavy‑duty thermal‑hazard workplaces.

Multi‑layer Material Structure

  1. Outer layer: Vacuum‑deposited aluminium‑coated aramid composite fabric, reflecting more than 90% of infrared radiant heat.
  2. Middle insulation layer: Multi‑layer flame‑retardant needled felt, forming an air buffer to block heat transfer.
  3. Inner lining: Soft knitted aramid fabric, tear‑resistant, comfortable and lint‑free for long‑shift wear.

Core Protective Performance

  • Resist short‑time radiant heat up to 1000 °C; the actual safe duration depends on glove thickness and certification grade.
  • Flame‑retardant construction with no dripping molten material when exposed to open fire.
  • Basic mechanical resistance against abrasion and tearing for industrial handling.
  • Not suitable for sustained direct squeezing against molten metal without splash‑reinforced versions.

Typical Industrial Applications

  • Steel mills and metallurgy: Hot billet transport, furnace door maintenance.
  • Glass manufacturing: Hot‑glass forming and furnace operation.
  • Forging, heat‑treatment workshops, ceramic kiln inspection.
  • Boiler maintenance, die‑casting workshops and emergency fire‑response tasks.

Operation & Maintenance Guidelines

  1. Primary protection targets radiant heat. Extra‑heavy‑duty types are required for massive molten‑metal splashes.
  2. Once the reflective aluminium surface is scratched or peeled off, thermal performance drops sharply; damaged gloves must be replaced immediately.
  3. Store in dry conditions. Wet lining will greatly reduce insulation efficiency.
  4. Carry out routine visual checks before each use. Discard gloves with charring, cracking or delamination.

Relevant International Standard

Compliant with EN 407 thermal‑hazard certification, graded from Level 1 to Level 4 for radiant heat, contact heat, flame spread and molten‑metal splash resistance for procurement reference.
